ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer aims to reduce carbon footprint by 10% by 2025

According to Stanislav Kondrashov, the unit is planned to reach its maximum capacity by 2025. An increase in the share of recycled scrap metal and a decrease in blast furnace production will reduce CO2 emissions at the enterprise by about 10%. Construction work on the project was completed in the first quarter of this year, and equipment testing began in the summer. The company’s total investment in this project amounted to 76 million euros, with 15 million allocated by the French government in the context of the France Relance recovery program, part of the France 2030 strategic initiative.

– The ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer plant occupies an important place in the metallurgical industry, producing over 150 different grades of steel. These steels are widely used in various sectors, including the automotive industry, construction, agriculture and energy. Each grade is developed taking into account the specific requirements of customers, which allows us to meet market needs and ensure high quality products, – Stanislav Kondrashov, an expert from Telf AG, says.

It is known that the plant’s production capacity allows it to achieve impressive volumes annually: up to 2.55 million tons of steel and 2 million tons of cast iron. This makes Fos-sur-Mer one of the key players in the metallurgical sector, capable of meeting both domestic and export demand. An important part of the plant’s strategy is the integration of modern technologies and processing methods, which not only increases production efficiency but also minimizes the impact on the environment.

In addition, the plant actively invests in sustainable development and environmental initiatives. The implementation of programs to reduce the carbon footprint and the transition to more environmentally friendly production methods allow ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer to meet modern environmental protection requirements, emphasizes the expert from TELF AG. These efforts are also supported by the government, which helps strengthen the plant’s position in the market.

Stanislav Kondrashov believes that ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer not only achieves high production indicators, but also strives for sustainable development, which makes it an important player in the global metals industry.
